This policy explains what MnM Labs collects, why, who sees it, and what you can ask us to delete. It covers the Fridget Labs app, this website, and the cooking-data program run through them.
1. Scope and who we are
MnM Labs (“Fridget,” “we,” “us”) operates the Fridget Labs iOS app, the website at mnm-labs.com, and the cooking-data program run through them (together, the “Services”). This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information across those Services, and what choices you have.
MnM Labs decides why and how personal information is processed through the Services. Where a partner licenses a dataset from us, that partner handles the licensed data for its own purposes and on its own responsibility, under the terms of a separate written agreement with us.
A note for people using the consumer cooking app. The consumer Fridget app — the one that scans your fridge and cooks alongside you — carries its own legal pages inside the app. If that is the app you use, please read those. This policy covers Fridget Labs, this website, and the data program.
2. Who this policy covers
- Contributors (“operators”) — people invited into Fridget Labs who record themselves cooking and submit those sessions to us.
- Website visitors — anyone who browses mnm-labs.com.
- Prospective partners and other correspondents — people who email us about datasets, the program, or the company.
- People in a contributor's home — anyone who happens to be present where a session is recorded. Contributors are required to keep other people out of frame; Section 6 explains the obligation and the automatic safeguard that backs it up.
3. What we collect
3.1 Information you give us
- Account and invitation details — the name and email address you sign up with, and the invitation that admitted you to the program.
- Payment and compliance details — the information needed to pay you for accepted recordings and to meet our tax and accounting obligations. Payment details are handled by our payment provider.
- Correspondence — anything you send us by email or through in-app support, including flags you raise about your own recordings.
3.2 Recording data
A Fridget Labs session is a recording of you cooking a real meal in your own kitchen, captured on your own iPhone worn on your chest or on a lanyard. A session consists of:
- Egocentric video — the first-person view from the phone on your body, which captures your hands and arms, what you are wearing, the food, the tools, and your kitchen and its contents.
- LiDAR depth — the depth map of the scene in front of the camera, which describes the geometry of your work surface and your kitchen.
- Motion data (IMU) — accelerometer and gyroscope readings describing how the phone, and therefore your body, moved during the cook.
- Step-aligned annotations — the structure of the cook: which recipe step was underway at which moment, together with your confirmations and flags from the review pass, plus technical metadata such as device model, camera parameters and session timing.
Recording data is the substance of the program. It exists to be turned into training datasets for robotics and AI, and it is licensed onward to vetted partners. We say so plainly here, we say so in the consent you accept in the app before you record, and we say so in the Operator Terms.
3.3 Information collected automatically
- App diagnostics — operational events the app produces while running: device model and iOS version, app version, upload progress and failures, timestamps, and error reports we need to fix problems.
- Web server logs — when you visit mnm-labs.com, our server records the request: IP address, browser user-agent, page requested, and time. We use these to serve and secure the site.
3.4 Device permissions
To record a session, Fridget Labs asks your permission to use the parts of your iPhone that capture it — the camera, including the LiDAR depth sensor, and the device's motion sensors — along with the access it needs to upload finished sessions and to notify you when one has uploaded or been accepted. You can grant or withdraw any of these in your iOS settings at any time; withdrawing one will stop the corresponding part of the app from working. The app does not use your microphone to record a session. Other features of the app — such as hands-free cook-along guidance — may ask for microphone access separately; whatever you decide there, a capture session never records audio.
4. What we never collect
Most of what makes this program safe is not a promise about how carefully we handle data after the fact. It is a set of things the app does not capture in the first place. These are design decisions, not settings you have to find.
No audio, ever. The app never activates the microphone during capture. No audio track is recorded, stored, or transmitted. Your voice, your family's voices, and anything said in the kitchen are simply not in the data — there is no audio to redact, and none to license.
Recording pauses on faces. The app watches the camera frame for faces. When it detects one, recording pauses automatically and only resumes once the frame is clear again. This is an automatic safeguard, not something you have to remember to do.
No hand landmarks or keypoints. The app detects that hands are present in frame so it can tell when work is actually happening. It does not store hand landmarks, keypoints, or skeleton data of any kind.
The face safeguard is a safety net, not permission to film other people. Contributors are separately obliged to keep other people out of frame entirely — see Section 6.
5. How we use information
- To run the program: admit contributors, offer tasks, receive and process sessions, review them, and decide whether they are accepted.
- To build training datasets for robotics and AI from accepted recordings, and to license those datasets to vetted partners under separate written agreements.
- To compensate contributors for accepted recordings, and to keep the tax and accounting records the law requires of us.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the app and this website.
- To answer your messages and provide support.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety or policy violations.
- To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information for advertising, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do license datasets built from accepted recordings to partners — that is the entire point of the program, it is disclosed here and in the app, and no recording is made before a contributor has consented to it.
Where the law that applies to you requires us to identify a legal basis for processing, we rely on: the performance of our agreement with contributors; your consent, which you give in the app before recording and may withdraw at any time; our legitimate interest in building datasets, securing the Services, and preventing fraud; and compliance with legal obligations such as tax and accounting duties.
6. Consent to recording
No session is ever recorded without consent, and consent is not a one-off checkbox buried at signup.
- Consent is versioned and accepted in the app before any recording takes place. If we change what the consent says, you are asked to read and accept the new version before you can record again.
- You review your own recording before it uploads. At the end of a session you step through it, step by step, and confirm or flag each one. Nothing is submitted behind your back.
- You can stop at any time — pause or end a recording, decline to submit it, or leave the program.
- Other people must stay out of frame. Contributors are required to record only their own kitchen, and to ensure that no one else appears in the recording. The automatic face-detection pause described in Section 4 is a backstop for accidents; it is not permission to film anyone else, and it does not transfer the obligation to us.

7. Cookies and analytics
mnm-labs.com is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no advertising or social-media pixels, and does not track you across other sites. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. The only record of your visit is the ordinary server log described in Section 3.3.
The Fridget Labs app keeps your signed-in state on your device so you do not have to log in repeatedly. It carries no advertising identifier and is not used to profile you.
8. How we share information
- Dataset partners. Datasets built from accepted recordings are licensed to vetted partners for robotics and AI development, always under a separate written agreement that governs what they may do with the data.
- Service providers. Companies that run parts of our infrastructure on our instructions — cloud object storage (Cloudflare R2), our managed database and application hosting, email, and the provider that pays contributors. They may use the data only to provide their service to us.
- Legal and safety. Where we are required by law, or where disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property, or to investigate fraud or a serious policy breach.
- Corporate transactions. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply to the transferred data.
International transfers. We are based in Israel and our providers operate internationally, so personal information may be stored or processed outside the country you live in, and datasets are licensed to partners that may be located elsewhere. Where the law that applies to you requires a specific safeguard for such a transfer, we put an appropriate one in place and will describe it on request.
9. Where data is stored and who can reach it
Sessions are uploaded from your iPhone over an encrypted connection to cloud object storage (Cloudflare R2). The metadata and annotations that describe each session are held in our managed Postgres database. Both are protected by access controls, and access is restricted to MnM Labs personnel who need it to run the program — to review a submission, to resolve an upload failure, to investigate a suspected policy breach, or to build a dataset.
We do not claim that a recording is anonymous. A kitchen and its contents are part of the recording by design, and details of a home can sometimes be connected back to the household that lives in it. We therefore treat recordings and the datasets built from them as personal information throughout, and protect them accordingly.
10. Deleting a session
You can ask us to delete any session you recorded. Email joe@mnm-labs.com from the address on your account, or use the deletion option in the app where one is available.
Before a session has been included in a dataset delivered to a partner, we can delete it outright, and we will. After that point our reach is limited: we can delete our own copies and stop using the session in anything new, but we cannot reliably retrieve it from a dataset already in a partner's hands, and we cannot remove its influence from a model that has already been trained. We will tell you honestly which of these applies to your request and do everything that remains technically possible.
Deleting your account deletes the account record and stops all further use. Sessions already accepted and delivered are subject to the limits just described.
11. How long we keep things
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes in this policy, and then delete it. Unless the law requires us to hold something longer:
12. Security
Sessions are encrypted in transit from your device and stored with encryption at rest by our storage provider. Access to recordings and to the database is limited to the MnM Labs personnel who need it, and is controlled by individual credentials. We keep our systems patched and review access as the team changes. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
13. Your privacy rights
Whatever rights the law where you live gives you over your personal information, we honour. Depending on where that is, those rights are likely to include some or all of the following:
- To know what personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy of it.
- To have inaccurate information corrected.
- To have information deleted, subject to the practical limits in Section 10 and any records we are legally required to keep.
- To withdraw a consent you gave, without affecting the lawfulness of what we did before you withdrew it.
- To object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing.
- To receive information you gave us in a portable form.
- Not to be treated worse for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise a right, email joe@mnm-labs.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act — usually by verifying that you control the email address on the account. We will respond within the time the applicable law allows. If you are in a place with a data-protection regulator and you are unhappy with our response, you are entitled to complain to that regulator.
14. Children
The Services are not for children. Contributors must be at least 18 years old. Contributors are required to keep all other people, including children, out of frame while recording. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child's information has reached us, email joe@mnm-labs.com and we will delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the effective date and version number above. Where a change materially affects how we handle recordings, we will also tell contributors in the app, and — because the in-app consent is versioned — you will be asked to read and accept the updated consent before recording again.
